The STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES


BELIEFS:

1. An effective education system is established in the belief that  every student will learn and  succeed to the best of his or her potential.

2. A basic purpose of the professional at AmjadHigh School is  to nurture, guide  and support students.

3. AmjadHigh School establishes a system that focuses on relationships that links students and their  families with a comprehensive package of informal and formal supports.

4.AmjadHigh School  has an effective school based service delivery system which is comprehensive,  coordinated, integrated, and customized  that should focus on developing competent students.

GOALS OF THE  SUPPORT SYSTEM AT AmjadHigh School:

Provide comprehensive ,coordinated, integrated  and customized, supports that are  accessible, timely, and strength-based so students can achieve in school and be confident.

  1. Invite families and the community as integral patterns in the    implementation of the support  system.

1-The goals of having all students attain high and challenging standards is directly related to quality of student learning experiences-  standard based learning ( content and performance based, instructional methods, assessments and evaluation; Including any influx of new students from other programs.  )

  1. Student support service cadre includes members from the school who can assist with the  development of a comprehensive approach to student learning.

The members include:

. Principal

. Counselor

. Student support service coordinator

. School based behavior , health personnel

. Curriculum coordinators

. Teachers

The function of the student support service is not only to ensure the implementation of the  system but also to maintain its sustainability.

In order to accomplish this task , the cadre  must build the infrastructure , identify the  supports and prioritize student learning

3.The educational management that has specialized  services and activities include a number of elements for the support.

a. Personalized classroom climate and  differentiated in practices   .

b. Prevention and early intervention

c. Family involvement and participation

d. Supports for transition .

A. Personalized classroom climate and differentiated classroom practices. A nurturing and caring climate with customized classroom practices  enables  students to progress and learn.

*. Student’s background of experiences is recognized through the instructional practices of the teacher.

. Identifying different strategies and learning styles involving families.

. Instructional support services work on the strength of the child.

. Students progress is frequently assessed and teaching/learning strategies are continually revised accordingly.

B. PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION

. Preventive programs addressing safety and security , social and emotional health, substance abuse, physical health in k – 12 curriculum.

. Guidance activities addressing pro-social skill development such as self-esteem, problem-solving, and behavior.

. Support team suggestions for classroom and/or school interventions for students.

. Designed diagnostic and assessment personnel  available to assist with support meetings.

. Planned on-going-two-way communication between the family and educational team at  all grades.

 

C.SUPPORT FOR TRANSITION

. Transition supports minimize interruption in student learning and Negative student  behavior. Transitions should be smooth and coordinated:

. movements between programs within the school

. movements between grades levels

. attendance after end of day program in a 2 hour support over 3 days according to needs.
